Niel's work focuses on the potter's wheel as a creative tool. Traditional pottery was covered, (cups, covered jars, teapots, etc.) Emphasis was placed on texturing assembling, and altering of thrown froms. His demonstrations included making oval pots, cutting "darts" to creat unique shapes, and using both found and hand made texture tools. Assembly included complicated forms such as teapots, bottles and boxes with lids. Neil emphasized the joy of exploring the possibilities for many varied forms generated on the wheel as well as the range of surfaces and textures. His demonstrations were designed to aid participants in making pots that are more unique and personal.
Mark feels that it is an honor to practice an Art form that has been practiced for thousands of years he is greatful to all of those who help it to thrive today.
